The District Countdown will serve as your one-stop shop for updates across the district. While buildings may still share grade-level or building-specific updates, this newsletter is designed to be the best place for all families—no matter the grade level—to stay informed about what’s happening in our schools. |
Getting Ready for What's Next
|
We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for our district! After months of dedicated collaboration and hard work, we are ready to unveil our new Mission, Vision, and Values. The elements in the work are based directly off the feedback and care our families and staff put in to truly align our district’s work and ensure that every investment we make directly benefits our students’ futures.
Please join us for a formal presentation to the community and the Board of Education: When: February 17th Board Meeting Time: 6:00 pm The Goal: To share our new vision and mission for ensuring every Rocket is "Ready for What's Next" |
Family Reunification Video Update |
When an emergency occurs at school, our absolute priority is student safety. Once a situation is resolved, the next critical step is getting students back to their families. To ensure this happens calmly and accurately, we utilize the Standard Reunification Method (SRM) developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation. Our Approach: The Drive-Up Model To maximize safety and speed, we have adapted these principles into a Drive-Up Reunification process. Much like a highly organized carpool lane, this method keeps traffic flowing and ensures we can process families as quickly as possible. Your Role in a Successful Reunification
If a reunification is enacted, we need your cooperation with the following: Stay in Your Vehicle: Please do not park and approach the building on foot. Staying in your car keeps the "flow" moving and allows our staff to bring your student directly to you.
Follow Directional Signage: Law enforcement and school staff will guide you through specific lanes. Following these cues is the fastest way to reach the front of the line. Have ID Ready: As you approach the check-in point, have your Photo ID visible. We can only release students to authorized guardians.
Be Patient and Prepared: We know emotions run high during these times, but staying in your vehicle and following directions allows us to make family reunification quicker and more efficient for everyone. Why This Matters
By remaining in your car, you help keep the staging area clear for emergency vehicles and allow our "runners" to safely escort students to their specific vehicles without navigating a crowd. Pro-Tip: Check your student's emergency contact list today. If a friend or relative isn't on the list, we cannot release your student to them during a reunification—no exceptions. |
We had a fun and love-filled week in preschool! Our students enjoyed learning, playing, and practicing kindness with friends as we made our way toward Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day Celebration
Students celebrated Valentine’s Day on Thursday, February 12. The children had a wonderful time exchanging valentines, enjoying special activities, and practicing friendship skills like sharing, taking turns, and using kind words. It was such a sweet day full of smiles! Thank you for helping your child participate and for sending in valentines and supplies to make the day extra special.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We are so grateful for our preschool families! We currently have several open spots in our afternoon preschool classes. If you know of any families who may be interested in enrolling, please feel free to share the information with them. As always, thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to more Valentine's fun in the days ahead. |
Elementary Update 100 Days!
|
Staff and students at the Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school this week. There were a lot of grannies and grandpas wandering in the hallways. Here are some of the creative costumes. |
Love was in the air—and all over the art room walls—this week! Inspired by the story Love Monster, Mrs. Keuffer’s First Graders have been busy creating their very own fuzzy, toothy, and totally lovable companions. While these monsters might have sharp teeth and big, googly eyes, they have even bigger hearts. |

Tournament Season is Here!
It is an incredibly exciting time for Rocket Nation as our student-athletes transition from regular-season play into the OHSAA Postseason. From the lanes to the mats and the hardwood, here is your comprehensive look at the week ahead. Wrestling: Senior Night & SBAAC Prep
It was an emotional and high-energy atmosphere this past week as we celebrated our Boys and Girls Wrestling Senior Night. Both teams showed incredible heart and skill in a packed gym.
In the marquee matchup of the evening, the Rockets went toe-to-toe with the Loveland Tigers. In a true "nail-biter" that came down to the final whistle, the Rockets narrowly missed the win, falling by just 1 point. Despite the loss, the performance proved that our wrestlers are hitting their peak at exactly the right time. SBAAC League Championships: This Saturday at Batavia HS.
Time: 9:00 a.m. (Tickets available at the gate or the league website). Girls Sectionals: Friday, Feb 27 @ Western Brown HS Boys Sectionals: Saturday, Feb 28 @ Blanchester HS Academic Quiz Team (AQT)

The Outlook: With two well-balanced teams, the Rockets are proving to be a tough out for any opponent. Next Week’s Schedule: Tuesday: vs. New Richmond (Home) Wednesday: vs. Williamsburg (Home) – Makeup
